I want homework to be meaningful and predictable (you know what to expect each week). It should only take about 10-15 minutes each night. | |
|
Monday *Make sure your reading bookmark is at school today! I will be checking it for progress!
*Bring your anthology back to school today! |
Math Monday This math homework supports what we are learning in class. Complete and return to school for credit. |
|
Tuesday |
Tuck Me In Tuesday This is a book from our classroom library that your first grader thought looked interesting and YOU, mom or dad, grandma or grandpa, get to read to US! First graders get the night off! |
|
Wednesday |
Just Right Book This is a book from our classroom library. It is a “good fit” and your first grader should be able to read it independently out loud to you. |
|
Thursday |
Decodable Book These books go along with our reading series and highlight a new skill each week. Find a place at home to keep these and revisit them for practice throughout the year. |
|
Friday |
Anthology Your first grader will be reading our story of the week to you from their blue trophies anthology. We have been practicing and practicing ALL week and are excited to share with you! **The anthology MUST come back to school each Monday (you can't forget). Write at least one time in your lifebook over the weekend. |
*Write in your lifebook every night! This should be short and quick and can be about ANYTHING. Your first grader will get a chance to share from their lifebook to the class each week so it is essential that they have new material written to choose from.
*Record all reading practice on our reading bookmark. I will be checking them each Monday for progress.
*Study for the Spelling Test
*Having a certain spot and time for homework helps develop GREAT homework habits!
*If for some reason you are unable to complete the homework for the night, just send me a note! I totally understand life can get BUSY! If you only have time for one thing... READ! You could skip the lifebook and catch up later on it.
